Kenilworth Poets’ Breakfast

Saturday 4th October 2014, 8am to 11am

Poets and yarn spinners are gearing up to head for Kenilworth for the annual Poets’ Breakfast on Saturday October 4.

These popular breakfasts have delighted audiences for well over a decade and invariably attract both poets and audiences from far and wide.

Organised by the Conondale Range Conservation Association as its annual fundraiser, and hosted by popular local poet Ian Mackay, the breakfasts have become an integral part of the Kenilworth Celebrates! festival.

Poets like Harry Donnelly, Irish Joe Lynch, Robin (Archie) Archbold and Mark Feldman never fail to please the crowd and this year they’ll be joined by a host of others. While there are a number of invited performers, there’s always room for “walk ups” in an open mike section of the program.

The poets breakfast welcomes everyoneThe breakfast starts at 8am (and goes till around 12) in the woodchop arena behind the Kenilworth hall. Entry is $5 for the entertainment and, as always, there’ll be a variety of breakfasts on offer. There’s no need to pre-book.

They say that laughter is the best medicine and a Poets’ Breakfast is guaranteed to give you a really good dose. The only catch is that you can’t claim the entry fee on Medicare.

Following the Breakfast, there’s ample time to visit the impressive art display, the centrepiece of the Kenilworth Celebrates! Festival, in the nearby hall, or to take in the market.

For many, the option of camping in the showgrounds and simply strolling over to the Breakfast in the morning, has become an attractive proposition. Phone 5446 0131 for camping details.
